🔓 Anthropic Brings Fable 5 Back Online

Anthropic has restored access to Fable 5 after the U.S. Commerce Department lifted export restrictions. The model returns with tighter safeguards, temporary usage limits, and a new agreement giving the government earlier visibility into future releases.

The Shift:

Stronger Security Filters - Anthropic updated Fable 5's safety system to block the reported cybersecurity vulnerability in more than 99% of cases, automatically providing users with a safer fallback response when needed.

Temporary Usage Limits - Fable 5 is available again across Claude plans and platforms, though paid subscribers will initially receive only half of their normal weekly limits before switching to usage credits.

How It Started - The original export order followed Amazon researchers identifying security weaknesses after bypassing Fable's safeguards, though Anthropic maintains comparable outputs were possible using other leading AI models.

A New Agreement - As part of restoring access, Anthropic will provide the U.S. government with pre-release access to future frontier models, while acknowledging stricter filters may occasionally block harmless coding or debugging requests.
