🤝 Microsoft’s Human-Centered AI Vision

Microsoft’s Copilot Fall Release reimagines AI as a personal, social, and supportive companion. From collaboration to health, the update blends empathy with automation, aiming to make AI a trusted partner in everyday life. You can watch the full release here

The Shift:

1. Mico – A Warm, Visual Personality  - Mico, the new animated Copilot avatar, reacts to tone, color, and emotion in real time. Designed to humanize AI, it makes voice interactions feel natural and expressive. It even hides a Clippy Easter egg, merging nostalgia with innovation.

2. Memory & Personalization -  Copilot now remembers details like events, preferences, and projects to make future chats smarter and more personal. Through connectors, it can pull data from Gmail, OneDrive, or Drive to streamline workflows. Users retain full control with editable memory and consent-based access.

3. Groups & Collaboration, AI That Connects People - Groups transforms Copilot into a collaborative workspace for up to 32 users. It summarizes threads, splits tasks, and tallies votes, creating seamless teamwork.

4. Health, Learning & Edge Integration -  Copilot now delivers health guidance using verified medical sources and can help find doctors. In education, Learn Live enables voice-guided tutoring with interactive visuals. Meanwhile, Copilot Mode in Edge adds automation like Actions and Journeys for hands-free, task-based browsing.

The Copilot Fall Release marks Microsoft’s pivot toward empathetic, memory-driven AI, a vision of technology that assists without overwhelming. By centering AI around people, relationships, and trust, Microsoft redefines the assistant as a true human companion, not just a digital tool.

TOGETHER WITH THE CODE

Find out why 100K+ engineers read The Code twice a week

Staying behind on tech trends can be a career killer.

But let’s face it, no one has hours to spare every week trying to stay updated.

That’s why over 100,000 engineers at companies like Google, Meta, and Apple read The Code twice a week.

Here’s why it works:

  • No fluff, just signal – Learn the most important tech news delivered in just two short emails.

  • Supercharge your skills – Get access to top research papers and resources that give you an edge in the industry.

  • See the future first – Discover what’s next before it hits the mainstream, so you can lead, not follow.

🕶️ Tech Giants Bet on AI Glasses

Amazon and Alibaba are redefining wearable technology through AI. Their smart glasses merge hands-free efficiency with real-time intelligence, bringing automation and assistance into daily work and communication. Together, they mark the next evolution of human-AI interaction.

The Shift:

1. Amazon’s Delivery Glasses -  Amazon’s AI glasses let drivers scan packages, navigate routes, and capture proof of delivery without phones. Powered by computer vision, they project directions and hazards directly in view.

2. Future Capabilities - Amazon plans to add real-time defect and pet detection, low-light adaptation, and address verification. The $16.7B DSP investment fuels this innovation in last-mile logistics.

3. Alibaba’s Quark AI Glasses - Alibaba priced its Quark AI Glasses at $660, offering real-time translation, music, and hands-free calls. Powered by its Qwen LLM, they ship in December after an Oct 24 pre-sale. The design positions Alibaba directly against Meta and Xiaomi in smart wearables.

4. AI Chat Assistant -  Within the Quark app, users can now switch to a chatbot-style interface for text or voice interactions. Powered by Qwen3 models, it supports photo editing, AI writing, and image-based problem-solving.

Amazon and Alibaba’s smart glasses signal a shift from handheld devices to heads-up intelligence. Whether for logistics or lifestyle, they merge AI with reality itself. The race is now about who can make vision the new interface for human-AI collaboration.
