💼 Custom AI Beats Frontier Models At Investing

Thinking Machines Lab and Bridgewater tested leading AI models on real investment research tasks and found that a smaller model trained on expert judgment outperformed every frontier model while costing significantly less.

The Shift:

Expert Data Wins - GPT, Claude, and Gemini models hovered around 50% accuracy before expert-written prompts pushed results into the mid-70s, still below Bridgewater's threshold for daily professional use.

Fine-Tuning Changed Everything - Training the open-source Qwen3-235B model on investor-reviewed examples boosted accuracy to 84.7%, outperforming every frontier model tested while reducing inference costs by nearly fourteen times.

Real Investment Work - The benchmark covered practical analyst tasks including sorting emails, news headlines, research reports, and identifying information that genuinely mattered for investment decision-making.

AI Built For Specialists - Bridgewater plans to train more domain-specific AI models, with Thinking Machines positioning expert fine-tuning as a way to build specialized intelligence instead of relying on general-purpose frontier models.

The biggest AI advantage may come from customization, not scale. This research suggests organizations with high-quality proprietary expertise can train smaller, cheaper models that outperform the world's largest AI systems on their own specialized work.

📹How to Edit Any Video by Describing What You Want With Gemini Omni in Google Flow

No timeline. No keyframes. Just describe the edit and watch it happen.

Step 1: Open Google Flow Head to labs.google/fx/tools/flow. No software to install, runs entirely in the browser.

Step 2: Upload your video Drop in the clip you want to edit. Any footage works as your starting point.

Step 3: Describe your edit in plain English Type exactly what you want changed. Swap the background, shift the camera angle, change the lighting, replace an object, reshape the entire scene. Gemini Omni reads the description and executes it.

Step 4: Select your frame size and duration Choose your output format and time range before generating. Portrait for Reels, landscape for YouTube, square for feed — set it before it renders.

Step 5: Hit generate Gemini Omni processes the edit while maintaining character consistency, physics, and visual coherence across every frame. No artifacts, no continuity breaks.

Step 6: Iterate by describing the next change Not quite right? Describe the adjustment. Change the camera angle again. Swap the lighting. Each prompt builds on the last without starting over.

What used to take an editor hours of keyframing now takes a sentence. You can try Google Flow here.

🌐 Cloudflare Is Redefining AI Access

Cloudflare introduced new AI traffic controls that let publishers choose how different AI bots interact with their content, separating search visibility from model training and autonomous AI agents.

The Shift:

Three Types of AI Bots - Cloudflare now classifies AI traffic into Search, Agent, and Training categories, giving publishers independent controls instead of treating every AI crawler the same.

New Default Rules - From September 15, new Cloudflare domains will automatically block Agent and Training bots on ad-supported pages while continuing to allow traditional search indexing by default.

More Publisher Control - Site owners can now decide whether AI systems should discover content, complete tasks on behalf of users, train models, or any combination that fits their business goals.

Content Becomes A Business Asset - The update separates discoverability from data extraction, giving publishers, creators, and SaaS companies more control over how AI companies access and use their public content.

AI crawling is no longer one permission. Publishers can now decide which kinds of AI interactions create value and which should be restricted, turning AI access into a strategic business choice rather than an all-or-nothing decision.
