🧠 Google reshuffles AI leadership

Google is overhauling its AI leadership as it pushes harder toward AGI and faster Gemini releases. The changes split long-term AI strategy from day-to-day model development amid growing competitive pressure.

The Shift:

Hassabis Changes Role - Demis Hassabis becomes Alphabet's Chief Scientist and DeepMind Chairman, handing daily leadership to Koray Kavukcuoglu while focusing on strategic AGI, advising DeepMind, and leading Isomorphic Labs.

Koray Takes Charge - CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu becomes Senior VP, leading frontier AI research, Gemini 4 development, and the Gemini app and developer teams.

Dean Launches Startup - After 27 years at Google, Jeff Dean is co-founding Discovery Loop, a public benefit corporation for AI-driven scientific discovery alongside Sanjay Ghemawat, Oriol Vinyals, and Quoc Le.

Pressure Mounts - The shake-up comes amid Gemini 3.5 Pro delays, researcher departures to rivals, and mounting pressure on Google to accelerate frontier AI releases.

Google is restructuring its AI organization to move faster on both frontier models and AGI research. The changes show the company is betting that stronger leadership focus is essential as competition for talent and next-generation AI intensifies.

Save 40% on 1000+ AI APIs

AI costs don't usually explode overnight. They grow quietly through duplicate requests, expensive routing and poor visibility.

Mesh API helps engineering teams spot the waste before finance does.

👀How to replace passive screen time with actual learning using Marble

Most kids' apps keep children quiet. Marble keeps them curious. Here's how it works for ages 6 to 12.

Step 1: Set up your child's profile - Answer a few quick questions about what sparks their curiosity — dinosaurs, space, drawing, animals, music. The first session feels personal before they've done anything.

Step 2: Let them explore - Your child steps into a living world and just plays. Drawing, storytelling, quizzes, languages, homework help, 100 kids' apps inside one game. Learning without it feeling like school.

Step 3: Marble maps what they know - It tracks 1,590 concepts across a curriculum built from US and UK standards and works at their growing edge after every session, the next skill they're ready for, not a random one.

Step 4: The world adapts automatically - A child who spent 20 minutes asking how volcanoes work gets pulled deeper into earth science next time. No parent input needed.

Step 5: You get a daily insight - What they explored, how their curiosity is growing, and simple ways to continue it in real life, a book, a documentary, a weekend activity.

💻 Meta enters the AI coding race

Meta has launched its first terminal-based coding agent and an upgraded coding model, taking direct aim at OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code. The release strengthens Meta's position in the fast-growing AI developer tools market.

The Shift:

Muse Code Debuts - Meta launched Muse Code in beta, a terminal coding agent that uses parallel background sub-agents, enabling multiple coding tasks to run simultaneously without conflicts.

Smarter Coding Model - Muse Spark 1.2 reached 54 on Artificial Analysis' Intelligence Index, climbing to third among U.S. AI labs with major gains in agentic coding and knowledge work.

Better AI Performance - The model's GDPval score improved by 260 Elo points, moving its knowledge-work capabilities close to today's frontier AI models after earlier weaknesses.

Lower-Cost Access - API pricing stays at $1.25/$4.25 per million tokens, while a new contributor tier is around 21x cheaper for users who allow Meta to train on their prompts.

Meta is expanding beyond AI models into developer tools, directly challenging OpenAI and Anthropic in coding assistants. Faster multi-agent workflows and competitive pricing could make Muse an attractive option for software teams.
