⚖️ OpenAI’s Pentagon Deal and $730B Valuation
OpenAI secured a Department of Defense contract shortly after Anthropic’s negotiations collapsed, triggering backlash and public scrutiny, and in the meantime, the company announced a record $110B funding round, pushing its valuation to $730B.

Altman admitted the deal was rushed and that the optics were poor. The agreement allows OpenAI models in classified environments after Anthropic declined similar terms.
OpenAI said its models cannot be used for mass domestic surveillance, autonomous weapons, or high-stakes automated systems. The company emphasized cloud-only deployment, internal oversight, and contractual protections.
Critics argued that references to existing surveillance laws could still permit data collection practices. OpenAI responded that deployment structure, not just policy language, restricts direct integration into weapons or operational hardware.
In the meantime, OpenAI raised $110B at a $730B valuation, led by $50B from Amazon and $30B each from Nvidia and SoftBank, with Microsoft notably absent from the round.
Much of that capital ties directly to infrastructure commitments, including expanded AWS usage and chip supply, meaning a significant portion of the funding cycles back into compute and cloud capacity.

🔁 Claude Introduces One-Click Memory Import
Anthropic released a feature that lets users transfer saved preferences and working context from other AI platforms into Claude with a single copy-paste. The move reduces friction for users experimenting with alternatives.

One-Prompt Migration: Users paste a provided prompt into their existing chatbot, then upload the generated output into Claude’s memory settings. Within 24 hours, Claude reconstructs prior instructions, personal details, and workflow preferences.
Full Context Transfer: The system pulls saved instructions, project context, and behavioral patterns from platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot. This eliminates the need to retrain an assistant from scratch after switching.
Claude Code Gets Auto-Memory: It now automatically stores project context, debugging history, and workflow habits across sessions. Developers can maintain continuity without manually restating setup details.
Claude also expanded memory access to free users, widening adoption across tiers. Following backlash around defense partnerships, U.S. ChatGPT uninstalls surged 295% in a single day, while Claude downloads jumped sharply, pushing it to the No. 1 free app position in multiple countries.
