🚀 OpenAI, Oracle & SoftBank Expand Stargate AI Infrastructure

OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank unveiled a major U.S. expansion of their Stargate AI infrastructure, adding five new data center sites and pushing total planned capacity to nearly 7 GW with more than $400 billion in investment. This move fast-tracks their path to the previously announced $500 billion/10-GW commitment for next-generation AI computing.

The Shift:

1️⃣ Massive National Build-Out - Five new sites across the U.S. join the flagship Abilene, TX campus, collectively driving Stargate toward 7 GW of planned capacity and exceeding $400 billion in investment, well on pace to hit $500 billion by late 2025.

2️⃣ Oracle-Driven Expansion - OpenAI and Oracle will add up to 4.5 GW through sites in Shackelford County (TX), Doña Ana County (NM), and a soon-to-be-announced Midwest location, plus a 600-MW Abilene expansion, representing a partnership exceeding $300 billion.

3️⃣ SoftBank’s High-Speed Builds - SoftBank and OpenAI will develop two more sites capable of 1.5 GW combined capacity: one in Lordstown, Ohio, and another in Milam County, Texas, where SB Energy provides powered infrastructure for rapid deployment.

4️⃣ Job Creation & AI Research Boost - These projects will create 25,000 onsite jobs and tens of thousands of additional roles, while supplying the massive compute OpenAI needs for advanced model training and future AI breakthroughs.

🎨 Google Mixboard & Gemini Level Up Creative and Gaming Experiences

Google announced two major updates to its creative and gaming ecosystem. Mixboard, a new AI moodboard builder, lets users quickly design and edit visual projects, while Gemini Live brings real-time AI assistance to mobile gaming.

The Shift:

1️⃣Google Play Games Expansion & New Features - Google is widely releasing Play Games for PC after a long beta, bringing over 200,000 mobile titles to desktop users. The Play Store is also getting improved game pages with progress tracking, achievements, developer updates, and a new Q&A section for players to ask and answer game-related questions.

2️⃣Mixboard AI Moodboard Builder - Mixboard lets users design moodboards from scratch or text prompts using the Gemini 2.5 Flash model. Users can upload images, edit visuals with natural language prompts, and instantly regenerate or refine designs for event planning, décor, or fun creative projects.

3️⃣  Gemini AI In-Game Help - Gemini Live will appear in an overlay on select Google Play games, letting players ask for tips verbally while the AI views their screen. The feature responds with audio hints and tracks rewards and achievements without interrupting gameplay.
