🐂 A mystery AI model has the internet guessing

A new anonymous model called Ox Alpha has appeared on OpenRouter with a 1M-token context window, multimodal input, and a focus on coding and agentic workloads. For now, nobody officially knows who built it.

The Shift:

Strong coding performance - Ox Alpha initially scored 80% on a DeepSWE subset, while broader testing put it around 63%, near Fable 5 while reportedly using far fewer tokens per task.

China is the leading theory - Early clues, including its responses and Chinese zodiac-inspired name, have fueled speculation that Zhipu AI built it, potentially as GLM-5.3 Flash or GLM-6.

Microsoft is another possibility - Microsoft’s MAI family has also been suggested, although the last four anonymous OpenRouter model drops over six months reportedly came from Chinese AI labs.

Free access is driving huge usage - The provider is offering near-unlimited free access for the week and claims infrastructure capable of processing 100 trillion tokens per day.

💪How to build a content system that never forgets your voice using Claude

Most creators re-explain their style to Claude every session. This workflow fixes that permanently.

🧴 Lady Gaga’s new startup is using living skin to find skincare compounds

Lady Gaga and fiancé Michael Polansky have co-founded Outer Bio, a biotech startup combining lab-grown skin testing with AI to speed up the search for new skincare compounds.

The Shift:

Skin stays alive much longer - Its Yuna platform keeps full-thickness human skin alive for four weeks instead of roughly one, using a 3D-printed scaffold that supplies nutrients and removes waste.

AI learns from real skin - Experimental results feed an AI that predicts compounds likely to affect specific skin processes, with every new physical test feeding back into its next predictions.

Discovery gets dramatically faster - Polansky says the system went from finding two leads in roughly 18 months to one candidate every six weeks, with six active leads now in development.

Early tests recreate known biology - A preprint reports Yuna reproduced established responses, including reversing a psoriasis-like state with a JAK inhibitor and reducing UVB-related damage using sunscreen.

The interesting part is the loop between AI and living human tissue. Instead of predicting compounds entirely in software, Outer Bio can propose one, test it on functioning skin, learn from the result, and immediately improve what it tries next.
